Dear HMS Parents,
The health and well-being of all our students is very important to us. Educating your student is also one of our biggest priorities, but we realize families may be experiencing difficulties in a variety of ways. In order to prevent school from being a source of stress on families, our AMI work is changing in its format. These changes were made for two reasons: one, to reduce the stress that school work may put on students and their families, and two, to provide the highest quality instruction possible.
All teachers will be using Google Classroom or Schoology to ensure our students continue to learn essential standards. These lessons in Google Classrooms/Schoology may contain:
- Google Forms, Google Docs, or a variety of interactive digital tools
- Live and/or recorded video lessons
- Links to online resources
We have developed what we are calling a Digital Block Schedule. Students will now be provided 2 hours' worth of daily instruction 5 days a week. There will also be opportunities for electives and enrichment. See links to the new schedule students will follow to complete AMI work for the week of April 6 and beyond.
Paper packets will still be available at the HMS front doors for students who do not have Internet access or a device at home. Please know the packet and the online content may differ in some ways. Teaching students through paper packets is not our preferred method of instruction; however, we realize some families still need these. Paper packets will be available for pick up & return Monday - Wednesday from 8:00 - 6:00 each week. Paper packets for the two-week period from April 6th through April 17th should be turned in on Monday - Wednesday (April 20-22) from 8:00 - 6:00 at the HMS front doors. HMS will be closed every Thursday & Friday for cleaning.
The AMI links online are no longer printable packets. There may be some printable material on the teacher's Google Classroom/Schoology. Printing papers from the Google Classroom/Schoology is not required, but we are aware some parents/students prefer this. We strongly encourage students to submit their completed assignments electronically.
If you have any questions about AMI packets or any other school issue, please contact your child's teacher. As always, we are here to help. If you or your child needs anything, please let a school staff member know. We want to help if we are able.
