There will be a new face on the sidelines at many Harrison High School athletic events this year.
The school debuted a new athletic mascot at last week’s community pep rally presented by Stone Bank, and the Goblin will make his first regular-season game appearance this Friday when the school’s football team hosts Siloam Springs. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m. at the newly renovated F.S. Garrison Stadium.
“I think a mascot will bring a lot of school spirit to the school,” Harrison High School Jay Parker said in a recent interview with Harrison High School’s student-run media organization, GobTV.
Harrison High School had a mascot several years ago, Parker recalled, but the role has gone unfilled in recent seasons. Robbie Kelly is excited to help the school’s cheerleaders energize the crowd.
“I think it just brings a level of atmosphere,” Parker said. “We love our cheerleaders, they do a great job, but I think this just adds another component that might help our school spirit.”
