Move over, spa day — our livestock are getting the real treatment!

Harrison high school agriculture students have a new tool to help their show animals succeed in the arena, thanks to a recently purchased Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) therapy device.

The new device, a form of PEMF therapy, uses electromagnetic pulses to help with the recovery of show animals. When applied to an injured area, the technology creates a low-level electrical field that stimulates cell activity. This process is designed to promote blood flow, reduce inflammation and pain, and accelerate the body's natural healing process. This is particularly beneficial for animals with injuries or limps, allowing them to recover more quickly and perform at their best.

High school agriculture classes teach students about animal care, health, and husbandry, with many students raising animals to compete at livestock shows. The new PEMF device provides a significant advantage, giving students hands-on experience with advanced animal healthcare technology. The device not only helps the animals but also prepares students for careers in veterinary science and animal care by exposing them to innovative treatment methods.

The funding for the PEMF device was made possible through Federal Perkins grants, which are designed to support and improve career and technical education programs. The grant ensures that students have access to modern equipment and training, preparing them for a competitive workforce.
