The Harrison High School FFA elementary agriculture experience continued its inaugural journey this afternoon, bringing a hands-on agricultural experience to the students of Skyline Heights Elementary. Following a successful morning at Harrison Preschool, the high school FFA team transformed the elementary school grounds into an interactive learning environment.
A Mobile Classroom in Action
One classroom at a time, Skyline Heights students eagerly toured the beautiful trailers, which feature a variety of farm animals including rabbits, quail, baby chicks, pigs, and goats. High school FFA students hosted the entire experience, sharing their knowledge and love of animals with the younger children. The elementary agriculture experience, which was created in honor of "Farmer Fred" Woehl, is proving to be a resounding success as a unique educational opportunity.
Student-Owned Animals and Community Support
Adding to the special nature of this mobile classroom is the fact that nearly all the animals displayed in the petting zoo are provided by the FFA students themselves. These are animals they own, including some that are currently being raised as show animals. This activity gives the elementary students a close-up glimpse at the dedication involved in raising livestock.
The Harrison High School FFA would like to extend a special thank you to Tyson's of Green Forest, Arkansas, for their generous donation of the baby chicks, which were a huge hit with the young students.
GREAT JOB today to the Harrison High School FFA students and teachers for sharing their hard work and animals with the community! This mobile petting zoo is truly a wonderful way to connect students with agriculture and carry on the tradition Farmer Fred created.
