This morning, Harrison Middle School Student Council members, along with their sponsor Maribeth O'Dell, embarked on an exciting and educational tour of Harrison City Hall! The students gained valuable firsthand insight into the workings of our local government and essential city services.

Upon their arrival, students received a warm welcome from Christeen Waters, the Mayor's Executive Assistant, and Donna Braymer, Public Relations for the City of Harrison. Students were then given a brief overview of the various departments housed at City Hall.

The tour continued into the City Council Chambers, where students had the privilege of meeting Mayor Jerry Jackson. Mayor Jackson took time to speak with the students, sharing important details about the responsibilities of the City Council and offering an overview of the processes involved in city government.

Following their discussion with the Mayor, Ms. Waters led the students on a full tour of City Hall. A definite highlight for the group was a special "behind the scenes" look at both the Harrison Police Department and the Harrison Fire Department facilities. Students had the unique opportunity to meet and chat directly with dedicated members of both departments, learning about their critical roles in keeping our community safe.

The Harrison School District extends sincere appreciation to Harrison City Hall, Mayor Jerry Jackson, Ms. Christeen Waters, Ms. Donna Braymer, and the incredible teams at the Harrison Police Department and Fire Department for hosting our students and providing such a memorable and informative experience. We are incredibly proud of our Harrison Middle School Student Council members for their active curiosity and commitment to learning more about civic involvement – they truly are our future leaders!
