We are proud to announce that our Harrison High School Agriculture Department and FFA Chapter are featured in the November 2025 edition of Arkansas Living magazine! The story, titled "Legacy of Generosity," beautifully captures the spirit of our recent "Farmer Fred Day" event and the tradition it celebrates.
The feature article by Jennifer Christman Cia chronicles the heartwarming origin of the "Farmer Fred" tradition. For 15 years, Harrison first graders enjoyed an immersive farm experience thanks to the boundless generosity of Fred Thomas Woehl, Jr., affectionately known as "Farmer Fred."
After Mr. Woehl’s passing in May 2024, our community, school officials, and the Harrison High School FFA Chapter were committed to ensuring his legacy of giving would continue. This commitment culminated in the "Farmer Fred Day" celebration on September 24, 2025, which is the focal point of the Arkansas Living feature.
The highlight of the day, now permanently featured in a statewide publication, was the official dedication of the HHS Agriculture Department's beautiful new custom trailer. This mobile agriculture experience, funded through the generous combined efforts of the Harrison Public Schools Foundation, the Lions Club Foundation, and the Harrison Noon Lions Club, allows our FFA members to carry the farm experience directly to local elementary students.
The new trailer has already begun its visits, extending the farm experience and the spirit of community generosity to a new generation of Harrison students.
We encourage everyone to read the full article in the November 2025 issue of Arkansas Living!
