We are proud to announce that four outstanding students at Harrison High School have met the rigorous language proficiency requirements to earn the prestigious Arkansas Seal of Biliteracy! The Harrison School District is proud to recognize these high-achieving individuals.
The Arkansas Seal of Biliteracy is a recognition given to high school students who have attained proficiency in English and one or more other languages. This recognition stands as evidence of their valuable language proficiency skills and serves as a verified credential for future employers.
To earn this Seal, students must submit evidence of their proficiency in both English and another language. This evidence must demonstrate proficiency attained while in high school (grades 9 through 12).
The students' proficiency in a language other than English is typically demonstrated by achieving a minimum score on one of several approved language proficiency tests, such as the ACTFL AAPPL or Avant STAMP. This required level of proficiency is Intermediate-Mid, a standard that demonstrates the student can communicate and be understood in a variety of real-world, everyday situations.
Please join the Harrison School District in celebrating the achievement of these hard-working students:
Tilde Matthiesen, 11th grade Danish
Natalia Viola, 11th grade Hungarian
Mia Corea, 10th grade Spanish
Maddix Steinman, 12th grade Spanish
This achievement highlights the value of language education and provides students with recognition they can use on college and job applications to show future employers and admissions offices that they are proficient in two or more languages. The Seal is nationally recognized, with all 50 states and Washington D.C. having an official Seal of Biliteracy.
The Harrison School District is proud to champion language education and biliteracy!
