This week, the Harrison Middle School (HMS) Career and Technical Education (CTE) staff and students are putting their skills to work for a heartwarming community service project just in time for the holidays!
Our CTE students are engaged in a project that combines sustainability, creativity, and compassion by repurposing donated t-shirts into fun, durable pet toys for the Ozark Humane Society (OHS).
Giving Back to Our Community
In preparation for this task, students have been researching the history and mission of Ozark Humane Society. Founded in 1970, OHS is dedicated to rescuing and providing a temporary, safe home for abandoned and homeless dogs and cats in the area.
By creating and donating over 400 handmade toys, our students are directly contributing to making the environment at OHS more fun and inviting for the animals awaiting their forever homes. This project teaches valuable lessons about community service, responsible resource use, and empathy for all living creatures.
The HMS CTE students are set to donate over 400 handmade toys to help bring cheer and comfort to the animals at OHS this Christmas season!
We are so proud of the hands-on learning and civic responsibility being fostered by the following CTE teachers:
Molly Thurman
Lacy Tomlinson
Tammy Beardsley
Anthony Bright
Maribeth O'Dell (Department Chair)
Please join us in saying GOOD JOB to our HMS CTE students and staff.
