The HHS College and Career Coaches hosted another successful FAFSA event yesterday centered around the fun theme, "If you give a senior a cookie, they'll fill out the FAFSA," drawing inspiration from a beloved children's book.

The event, organized by Career Coach Mitzi Cantrell, offered vital assistance to our seniors navigating the financial aid process for college and career training. HHS Career coaches teamed up with partners from our local North Arkansas College (Northark) TRIO program, who were on hand to provide one-on-one, personalized support.

The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is a crucial first step for students seeking federal, state, and often institutional financial aid for college, university, or career school. Completing it opens the door to grants, scholarships, work-study programs, and loans that can make higher education accessible and affordable. It is essential for every senior considering post-secondary education!

Northark's dedicated TRIO team truly went above and beyond, sitting side-by-side with our seniors and walking them through the application process from start to finish. The TRIO team also reviewed applications to ensure accuracy for students who had already been working on the process.

Students received a sweet reward for their work! Every senior who came by to complete the FAFSA, have their application reviewed, or simply verified their application was already submitted and complete, received a delicious cookie, generously provided by the Northark TRIO team.

The day was a huge success, resulting in 120 student contacts! We are thrilled to see so many of our seniors taking this crucial step toward their future.

This event is just one example of how the Harrison School District is dedicated to fulfilling our mission: "Building the Future. Every Learner. Every Day. Every Way."

A sincere thank you to the Northark TRIO team for their support, their time, and their delicious cookie donation! We look forward to seeing all the amazing things the Class of 2026 will accomplish!
