At Harrison Schools, we know that literacy is a foundation of everything we do. Developing strong reading skills early on isn't just an academic milestone; it’s the key that unlocks a student's potential across every subject they will ever study.
Because literacy is so critical to student success, we love finding ways to make books come alive!
This morning, our Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Lewis Villines, visited our preschool classrooms for a very special story time. He brought along a crowd favorite: “Do Not Open This Book” by Andy Lee.
Despite the title's warning, Dr. Villines and our youngest learners couldn't resist. The result? A total hit! The students were on the edge of their seats, navigating the "traps" and humor of the book alongside Dr. Villines.
Building Connections: Seeing leadership take the time to share a story reinforces to our students that reading is a valued, lifelong skill.
Big Smiles: The room was filled with laughter, proving that the best way to encourage literacy is to make it an adventure.
We are so proud of our preschool Goblins for their curiosity and enthusiasm. A huge thank you to Dr. Villines for helping us show our students that while the sign might say "Do Not Open," the world inside a book is always worth exploring!
