The Harrison community celebrated the launch of Farmer Jack and the Never Ending Puzzle on February 19. This student-led project, Homegrown Stories, was made possible by the Harrison Public Schools Foundation and was created to "bring agriculture to life by highlighting the stories of our local farmers in our community."
Students Brynlee King and Ty Willmott launched the project to bridge the gap in local agricultural knowledge. Working with author Brandy Mincer, Brynlee and Ty, along with Josalyn Likes (biography author) and Madelyn Sutton (illustrator) handled everything from interviewing the local Burns Family to the creative process of publishing a book.
The highlight of the night came when Lily Burns announced the big news: "Our project has been selected to present at the NATIONAL level!" The team has been invited to the National Ag in the Classroom Conference in Rhode Island to share their work.
The best news - the books are here! Step onto the farm with Farmer Jack and discover how every piece of the farm plays a vital role. Books are officially on sale now for pick-up at Harrison Middle School! Proceeds support future books and a scholarship for seniors pursuing agriculture, writing, or journalism.
