Students in library during space week

Harrison Kindergarten blasts off! This week, the Harrison Kindergarten media center was transformed into a stellar learning launchpad for "Space Week," and our little explorers had an out-of-this-world experience.

The mission began each day with Mrs. Waller at the Space Command (a.k.a. the read-aloud rug) for a special reading of "Roaring Rockets" by Tony Mitton and Ant Parker. Not only did our students learn all about how rockets soar, but they also used their supersonic hearing to spot rhyming words throughout the story!

After fueling up on literacy, it was time for rotation stations! Students practiced their orbital skills at a variety of learning pads:

  • Build a Rocket Station: Our future engineers used their fine motor skills and creativity to design and construct their very own rocket ships.

  • Kinesthetic Exploration Station: Students activated their sensory engines with hands-on, body-moving science exploration.

  • Read in a Rocket Ship: The cozy corner was a huge hit, giving students a quiet place to read their favorite books inside a specialized space vessel.

We are so proud of our kindergarteners for launching into new learning with such enthusiasm! Check out the pictures below of our young astronauts in action!
