We are full of Goblin Pride today! Our Harrison High School Principal, Jay Parker, was recently featured by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) for his article detailing a beautiful initiative right here at HHS.
When Mr. Parker noticed that the high cost of formal events was keeping some students from attending dances, he didn't just look at the budget—he looked to the students. Through "Java with Jay" coffee chats, students spoke up, and the HHS Key Club took action!
The Promise Project was born under the guidance of Key Club sponsor Kyndall Jenkins. Ms. Jenkins and her student leaders transformed the arena mezzanine into a curated, boutique experience where donated formal wear found its "main character moment" again. By offering dresses, accessories, and even hair styling demos at no cost, they ensured that the focus stayed on the memories, not the price tag.
As Mr. Parker writes: "High school is about building a community where every learner feels they belong."
Join us in celebrating Kyndall Jenkins and our remarkable Key Club students for their heart and leadership, and Mr. Parker for amplifying Harrison’s student voices on a national stage.
