Harrison Public Schools celebrates National Speech Pathologist Day

Today, the Harrison School District joins the nation in celebrating National Speech-Language Pathologist Day. This day serves as a tribute to the dedicated professionals who help our students find their voices and build the foundation for lifelong success.

The field of speech-language pathology has a rich history, beginning its significant growth in the 1920s to support soldiers returning from war. Today, more than 119,000 SLPs work across the country in hospitals, clinics, and—most importantly to us—our classrooms.

Within our district, our speech-language pathologists are essential threads in the fabric of our educational community. They do more than teach "speech"; they empower students to communicate, connect with their peers, and confidently access their education.

"Our district speech-language pathologists make a meaningful difference by helping students build the communication skills they need to learn, connect, and succeed," says Amber Likes, Special Services Director. "We are truly grateful for their expertise, patience, and dedication, and we appreciate the lasting impact they have on our students each day."
