If you walked into Harrison Preschool this morning, you might have reached for your sunglasses! The preschool building has been completely transformed into a sun-drenched celebration of Yellow Day, an annual tradition that blends literacy, school spirit, and a very important lesson in character.
The celebration was inspired by two wonderful books: Yellow and Gigi's Yellow Garden by Adam Peterson. These stories helped students explore the color yellow not just as a shade, but as a feeling of warmth, happiness, and—most importantly—kindness.
Yellow Day is also the school's unofficial "Kindness Day." Throughout the hallways, students are literally becoming the heart of the message. At the "KIND" photo op station, students took turns standing in for the letter "I," reminding us all that kindness starts with each individual.
The classrooms have been busy, too! Students completed special yellow assignments sharing how they can make the world a better place.
"I can put the 'I' in KIND by listening to my mom!" > - Tom, preschool student
"I can put the "I" in KIND by telling someone I love you." - Brady, preschool student
"I can put the "I" in KIND by giving people things when they don't have anything!" - Stella, preschool student
From the custom t-shirts worn by every student and staff member to the bright yellow displays, the energy across the preschool campus is full of joy!
Thank you to the Harrison Preschool families for leaning into the fun and helping us teach our littlest Goblins that being kind is the brightest way to live!
