Preliminary results from the 2025–2026 ATLAS summative assessments reveal a major milestone for the district's youngest learners. Data shows that 90% of Kindergarten students have achieved proficiency in reading, a benchmark that places the district a remarkable 24 percentage points above the state average.

Educators and administrators view this achievement as a powerful validation of the district's targeted focus on early childhood literacy. Developing strong reading skills at this foundational level is critical, as it establishes the framework for critical thinking and academic success in later grades.

"This achievement is a direct reflection of the hard work put forth by our students and the deep commitment of our instructional staff," said Debbie Wilson, District Curriculum Director. "When 9 out of 10 of our kindergartners are reading at grade level — and outperforming the state average by 24 points — that's not just a statistic, that's a victory for every teacher who stayed late, every parent who read bedtime stories, and every five-year-old who sounded out a tough word and didn't give up!"
