Harrison Public Schools teachers and staff gathered this morning for their back-to-school Professional Development, which was highlighted by a deeply moving, inspirational message from Dr. Charles Adair.

Speaking on behalf of the Harrison Public Schools Foundation, Dr. Adair shared the timeless story of the starfish thrower. He described a young boy walking along a beach covered in thousands of stranded starfish, gently tossing them back into the ocean one by one. When a passerby tells him he can't possibly make a difference to all of them, the boy tosses another into the waves and replies, "It made a difference to that one."

Dr. Adair connected this story directly to our schools, reminding everyone that every single student matters.

The room was filled with gratitude as staff reflected on the immense impact they have on the children in our community. Dr. Adair’s kind words served as a beautiful reminder that our teachers aren't just managing classrooms—they are changing lives, one individual student at a time.

Harrison Public Schools is incredibly grateful to Dr. Adair for his wisdom and encouragement. Our staff is inspired, recharged, and ready to make a difference for every single student this school year!
