Mrs. Morgan’s art classes have been hard at work creating some incredible masterpieces!
Our 5th grade students explored movement and expression by designing sculptures inspired by Keith Haring. Haring was known for his bold lines, simple figures, and energetic artwork that often showed people in motion and shared messages about love, unity, and community.
Our 6th grade students tapped into bright colors and everyday inspiration with pop art sculptures influenced by Andy Warhol. Warhol was famous for turning ordinary objects—like soup cans and candy—into colorful works of art, helping people see everyday items in a whole new way.
We are so proud of the imagination and effort our students are showing in the art room. Be sure to ask them about their creations! 🎉👏

Our talented Harrison Middle School 6th Grade Choir will take the stage to celebrate jazz classics in America’s Music by John Jacobson and John Higgins, with arrangements by Tom Anderson.
🎨 In addition to the concert, be sure to stop by and enjoy a 6th Grade Art Show showcasing the incredible creativity of our students!
🎺 We’ll also feature two special instrumental performances by a small ensemble of HMS students — you won’t want to miss it!

Mrs. Tucker’s literacy students are turning inspiration into action! After reading A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park, they were moved by the real-life challenges children face just to access clean drinking water—and now they’re ready to make a difference.

🦒 What is the Iron Giraffe Challenge?
The Iron Giraffe Challenge is a nationwide (and even global!) school fundraising competition that raises money to build wells in South Sudan. Schools track their progress using a fun giraffe-themed system—earning recognition as they reach fundraising milestones. Every dollar raised helps provide access to clean, safe water for communities in need, reducing long daily walks for water and improving health, education, and quality of life for children and families.

Mrs. Tucker’s classes are hosting a 3-mile walk-a-thon with a goal of raising $1,000 to support these life-changing water projects. This walk symbolizes the miles many children travel each day just to collect water.

Career & Technical Education Takes Center Court! 🎉
Career & Technical Education (CTE) was the featured “game” on LT’s court this week—and what a win it was!
High school CTE students knocked it out of the park by leading engaging presentations and showcasing the many exciting career pathways available at HHS. They also served as fantastic tour guides, giving an inside look at our career-focused classrooms.
A big thank you to our CTE program for hosting such an incredible experience—we had a great time! 👏
HMS 8th grade students recently had an exciting, hands-on experience with the Be Pro Be Proud Mobile Workshop! Students explored a variety of high-demand career pathways while getting to operate cutting-edge, high-tech simulators.
Our student ambassadors did an amazing job stepping into leadership roles—training their peers and helping guide them through each experience! 👏

Our amazing HMS cafeteria staff got into the holiday spirit by baking 10 sheet cakes of delicious green cake to treat all of our students today! 💚

Students worked in groups to build food chains, with each type of candy representing a different trophic level in the energy pyramid. For example, some candies represented producers (plants), while others represented primary consumers, secondary consumers, and tertiary consumers.
As students built their food chains, they discussed how energy moves from the sun to producers and then to consumers. The marshmallows and candies helped visually demonstrate how energy decreases as it moves up each trophic level.

Parents/guardians, students, staff, and community members are all invited to stop by for this meet-and-greet style event and learn more about the incredible projects our HMS EAST students are working on.
The EAST Conference Team and students with projects heading to conference are encouraged to attend this first event. Additional students and projects will be highlighted at future EAST Night Out rounds later this spring — more information coming soon!

A letter with important details about 7th grade math placement will be sent home on March 16, 2026. HMS 6th graders will take the Algebra Readiness Test on April 1, 2026 as part of the placement process for next year’s math classes.
This assessment helps determine eligibility for Pre-Algebra, which begins the Accelerated Math Path and prepares students for Algebra 1 in 8th grade.
Please review the letter carefully, and if you have questions, feel free to reach out to Mrs. Keele or Mr. Jones.

A big thank you to 7th grader Kayleigh from Coach Mattix’s art class for transforming a simple classroom trash can into a work of art. She painted it to look like an airplane window with a beautiful sunset view. 🌅
The trash can will live in Mrs. Jackson’s classroom, where students will study aviation next school year. It’s a fun and creative way to connect art with learning and make the classroom a little more inspiring.
Great work, Kayleigh! Even the trash gets a window seat now. ✈️

Harrison Middle School is proud to celebrate the students who earned ATLAS Test Exemption Days through their hard work and academic achievement!
Each year, students who achieve designated benchmark scores or demonstrate qualifying growth on the previous school year’s Summative ATLAS Test may earn one or two days of exemption from school attendance.
📄 Students who qualified will bring home a letter today on blue paper that includes:
• Their name, grade, and homeroom
• An “X” marking the exemption day(s) they earned
These exemption days will take place Thursday, March 19 and/or Friday, March 20, depending on the level earned.
👏 We are incredibly proud of our students for their dedication and effort on the 2025 ATLAS Test. Keep up the great work—we can’t wait to see how you do on this year’s test!
