A big thanks to Mr. Ditmanson for speaking today at 5th Grade FCA. The students enjoyed the message of “being a light” at school and also in the community.

Mrs. Bryant’s students explored the world of protons, neutrons, and electrons in a hands-on lab. 🎈⚡ They experimented with balloons, confetti, and plastic sacks to discover why some things attract while others repel—just like charges inside an atom!

Science in action = learning made memorable. 🔬💡

Subatomic particles never tasted so fun! Mrs. Scoggins’ 7th Grade Science students participated in a “Build an Atom” lab using marshmallows to model subatomic particles. This engaging activity helped deepen their understanding of atomic structure and atomic numbers.

The Harrison Fire Department is watching the low water crossing on Speer Drive for possible flooding and road closure. In the event of that road being closed, parents may access Burls Way for car rider pick up from Orendorff and McCoy Drive (roads by Pizza Hut and Westrock Orthodontics) or Speer Drive coming from the Skyline area. If Speer Drive is closed, the HPD will have an officer at the intersection of Speer Drive and McCoy/Burls directing traffic.

🌾 On Tuesday, 2nd Period EAST partnered with Chas McCoy from The Nature Conservancy along with Joan Lipsmeyer and her husband to collect prairie grass seeds. These seeds will be used to replant areas impacted by the road construction on Goblin Drive.

💡 The experience also inspired fresh ideas for future EAST projects connected to Baker Prairie—exciting things ahead!

🔬🌿 The HMS Science Club kicked off the year on Tuesday, Sept. 16 with nearly 50 students in attendance! Members hiked through Baker Prairie, identifying plants, insects, and even a few animals using a fun new app. 🐾🍃
