🧢🧶 Service in action! Yesterday our Harrison Middle School FBLA members picked up their knitting needles and began making hats that will be donated to Arkansas Children’s Hospital and North Arkansas Regional Medical Center. The first picture shows part of our Community Service Team working on a scarf, something new for this year’s project! In addition to hats, we’ll also be donating scarves to our local nursing homes to bring warmth and encouragement to residents. This project is a favorite HMS FBLA tradition, combining teamwork, learning a new skill, and most importantly, giving comfort to children in need. We’re proud of our students for carrying on this legacy of service and kindness! 💛 #HMSFBLA #ServiceLearning #FutureBusinessLeaders

🧪📏 Boys vs. Girls: Shoe Size Showdown in Science Class!
🔬👟 Mrs. Scoggin’s 7th Grade Science class put the scientific method into action! Students asked the question: Who has bigger shoes—boys or girls? 👦👧

They formed hypotheses, collected data by measuring shoe sizes, and compared their results to draw conclusions. A fun (and practical!) way to see science in action! 🧪📏✨

Parent Notification of Health Screening 2025-2026 Dear Parent/Guardian, During the next few weeks we will be conducting our annual health screening, including a scoliosis screening, at Harrison Middle School. Our scheduled dates are: September 18th 6th grade vision/hearing/BMІ September 23rd 8th grade vision/hearing/BMI September 25th 6th grade girls only and 8th grade boys and girls for the scoliosis screenings. The procedure for a scoliosis screening is a simple one, in which the student is observed as he/she stands upright and he/she bends forward. To observe this condition, each child will be asked to remove their shirt or blouse (girls may wear a bra or bathing suit top with an open back, boys may wear an A shirt). The screening will be conducted with privacy with only the student and 2 district school nurses present. We encourage all students to participate in this program. If you do not want your child to be screened, please let us know in writing at least 3 days prior to the screening date. Phone calls will not be accepted. If your child is currently under treatment for a back problem, please let us know in writing. In accordance with state mandates, if you have already declined screenings for this school year, please provide the appropriate documentation from your physician that they have completed the corresponding screening(s) within the past year. Not providing documentation will result in individual cases being reported to the Arkansas Department of Education. Thank You, Lauren Holt, RN Harrison Middle School Handbook Excerpt-from Section 7.30 The Harrison School District nurses' provide annual screenings of vision and hearing for all students and Body Mass Index and Scoliosis for mandated grades. The intent of the exams or screenings shall be to detect contagious or infectious diseases or defects in hearing, vision, or other elements of health that would adversely affect the student's ability to achieve their full potential. The district shall notify parents annually through the school website, announcements, or notes home of the specific or approximate dates of any non-emergency screening, administered by the school and scheduled by the school in advance and not necessary to protect the immediate health and safety of the student or of other students. Except in instances where a student is suspected of having a contagious or infectious disease, parent/guardians shall have the right to opt their student out of exams/screenings by written notification to the school or by providing certification from a physician that he/she has recently examined the student.
We had a fantastic evening filled with great conversations, helpful tools, and practical tips for raising healthy, happy kids in today’s digital world. A big thank you to our volunteers and partners who made this event possible—and to our parents for taking the time to invest in their families.
