Congratulations to Harrison High School's 2025 Arkansas Boys & Girls State Delegation! Arkansas Girls State was established by the American Legion Auxiliary in the 1937. Arkansas Boys State was established by the National American Legion in 1940. These programs are designed to provide high school juniors with an immersive civics education and leadership experience. The programs allow participants to experience the workings of state government firsthand, running for office, drafting legislation, and engaging with constituents. Each summer, hundreds of the state's brightest high school juniors come together at college campuses where an invented "state" is established. The students hold elections for every state office. At the end of the program, those who were elected as state representatives come the House chamber to debate the bills they drafted previously in the week.
