Mrs. Bryant’s and Mrs. Scoggins’s classes completed an exciting hands-on lab today by mixing citric acid, baking soda, and water to observe temperature changes during a chemical reaction. Students investigated whether the reaction was endothermic or exothermic, carefully measuring, observing, and recording their results. This lab gave students the opportunity to practice real scientific skills—asking questions, collecting data, and drawing conclusions—just like true scientists! 👩🔬👨🔬📊

The directors are excited to meet everyone at the band assembly on Monday, February 9th and then again on Thursday, February 12th where you get to find your perfect instrument fit!
Letters are being sent to every student, so please check your mail for more information!

Students working on the EAST Project Mural Tech partnered with Explore Harrison’s Matt Bell for a productive day in Downtown Harrison. During a guided walking tour of the city’s murals, students collaborated with Mr. Bell to plan Phase 1 of the project—adding plaques with QR codes and informative details to each mural.
It was a beautiful day to learn, collaborate, and connect art with technology! A big thank-you to Matt Bell for sharing his time and expertise, and to Boba Joe’s for the treats that made the day even sweeter.

Christopher Bourquin was awarded an All Star Award for being a high scorer in the tournament! He was in the top 10, ranking 8th out of more than 100 players!
Congratulations, students!

Mrs. Bryant’s students combined calcium chloride and water to determine whether the reaction was endothermic or exothermic. By observing the temperature change, students discovered that the reaction was exothermic—releasing heat! Hands-on learning makes science come alive! 🔥👩🔬👨🔬

EAST student Boone Mays recently presented his team’s project idea to the Buffalo River Partners. Their project, Trailblazer’s Guide, is designed to improve hiker safety by installing a temperature-display sign at a Buffalo River trailhead—helping alert hikers to the dangers of extreme heat. ☀️🥾
We’re excited to share that Boone’s team received $3,000 in funding from the Buffalo River Partners to help bring this project to life!
Team members include Bronson Vansandt, Freddie Peoples, and Cole Wray. Great work turning innovation into real-world impact!

Students learned about the chemical and physical changes that happen when making a s’more—
🧩 breaking graham crackers
🍫 melting chocolate
🔥 marshmallow browning and caramelization
Science has never tasted so good! 😄🧪

Mrs. Bryant’s class explored the Law of Conservation of Mass using glow sticks! When activated, a chemical reaction produced light—but the mass stayed the same before and after. 💡
Even though energy was released, no matter was created or destroyed—just rearranged! Science is truly glowing bright in this classroom! 💙💛
